BCS 110G. Introduction to Computerized Information Systems 3 cr.
Computerized information systems, their economic, and social implications. Introduction to microcomputer hardware, personal productivity software, and communications.

BSC 122. Introduction to Business Programming (f,s) 3 cr.
Introduction to business computer systems programming. Includes basic computer algorithms in current programming environments and languages. Prerequisites: C or better in BCS 110G; and MATH 115. Same as C S 187.

BCS 210. Business Programming Using Visual Tools 3 cr.
Introduction to the development of business problem solutions in the visual programming environment. Prerequisites: either BCS 110G or C S 110G; and BCS 222; and MATH 115; or consent of instructor.

BCS 222. Computational Algorithms in Business File Processing 3 cr.
Introduction to structured systems development and file-processing algorithms in business and to internet programming and object-oriented design concepts. Prerequisites: C or better in BCS 122 or C S 187; and MATH 230.

BCS 322. Advanced File Processing Techniques 3 cr.
Advanced programming for business. In-depth exposure to object-oriented techniques and preliminary enterprise-level programming. Prerequisite: C or better in BCS 222 consent of instructor; and MATH 142G.

BCS 338. Business Information Systems I 3 cr.
Application, design and use of computerized information systems in business environment. Prerequisite: BCS 110G or C S 110G or consent of instructor. Not open to BCS majors for degree credit.

BCS 350. Systems Analysis and Modeling (f, s) 3 cr.
Project management, analysis, requirements determination, and logical modeling of business-information processing systems. Prerequisite: BCS 222 or concurrent enrollment.

BCS 450. Systems Design, Development and Implementation 3 cr.
Design, development and implementation of business information processing systems. Includes maintenance, evaluation and system management considerations. Prerequisite: C or better in BCS 350.

BCS 455. Design of On-Line Business Systems (f, s) 3 cr.
Covers analysis, design, and development of on-line, real-time computerized business-information systems. Prerequisite: C or better in BCS 322 or consent of instructor.

BCS 458. Business Information Systems II 3 cr.
Advanced topics in decision support systems, expert systems, data base management systems, data communications, and other current computerized business decision tools. Prerequisite: C or better in BCS 322 or consent of instructor.

BCS 460. Data Communications and Networks (f, s) 3 cr.
Data communications for business computer systems. Local and wide area networks, data communications protocols and media, client-server and distributed processing systems. Prerequisite: C or better in BCS 350 or consent of instructor.

BCS 465. Business Systems Simulation (f, s) 3 cr.
Simulation of business systems. Model design, implementation, testing and analysis. Prerequisites: C or better in BCS 322; and STAT 251.

BCS 470. Object-Oriented Systems Development Techniques (f, s) 3 cr.
Business information systems development in the object-oriented environment. Prerequisite: C or better in BCS 322 and in BCS 350.

BCS 472. Inroduction to Business Programming 3 cr.
Introduction to business programming. More advanced than BCS 122, this course includes basic alogrithms in current programming environments and languages. Prerequisites: MATH 115 or consent of instructor; graduate students only.

BCS 473. Computational Algorithms in Business File Processing 3 cr.
More advanced than BCS 222, this course introduces students to structured systems, development, and file processing algorithms in business, inlcuding internet programming and object-oriented design concepts. Prerequisites: C or better in BCS 122 or BCS 472 or consent of instructor; graduate students only.

BCS 474. Advanced File Processing Techniques 3 cr.
More advanced than BCS 322, this course provides students with in-depth exposure to object-oriented techniques and preliminary enterprise-level programming. Prerequisites: C or better in BCS 222 or BCS 473 or consent of instructor; graduate students only.

BCS 475. Database Management Systems (f, s) 3 cr.
Design, development, and use of database management systems in the business environment. Prerequisite: C or better in BCS 350 or consent of instructor.

BCS 480. Ecommerce Security 3 cr.
Introduction to securing network-based applications from internal and external threats. Fundamentals of network security, including TCP/IP, firewalls, intrusion detection, and vulnerability. Prerequisite: C or better in BCS 460 or consent of instructor.

BCS 490. Selected Topics 1-3 cr.
Current topics in business systems analysis. Prerequisites vary according to topics being covered. May be repeated for a maximum of 12 credits.

BCS 498. Independent Study 1-3 cr.
Individual studies directed by consenting faculty with prior approval of the department head. Prerequisites: junior or above standing and consent of instructor. A maximum of 3 credits may be earned.
